She is back! A tiny, little inner spring breaker that lives inside of me. She needs a pedicure, wind in her face and sun on her skin. She is itchy to head South and maybe she isn’t as interested in a wet t-shirt contest as she used to be but she loves to be warm and she wants out! Run former sorority girl, RUN!
The winter months are such a struggle and nothing is worse than the self assigned black and gray uniform we all unintentionally fall into during those chilly months. Every year at the beginning of February I start painting my little pigs fun, bright, summer colors. In my mind I’ve decided my toes would enjoy a vacation even if their body couldn’t. This year I took a new approach. March 1 was the first day of spring, well at least for apartment 407. Even my gay princess Tike has decided to flaunt a floral (pictured here).
This year I am bringing in spring even if I have to be a one woman show. I started painting my nails in coral, breaking out the navy pants and nude shoes. To put the cherry on the “see you later winter gator” sundae, I pulled out my little yellow trench coat. I have officially decided spring is a spirit, not a season. I have to admit I am usually a slave to the cardinal rules of the fashion world. This year, however, for my heart and my sanity I took the rule book and buried it under cable knit sweaters and thick socks. Out of sight, out of wardrobe!
I encourage everyone to take a small step towards your spring. Toss fundamental into the not so warm wind and find the place where springs lives in your soul. Whether you spritz some of your favorite summer perfume, sneak in a peep toe on the weekends, flash a coral cami or tie a bright scarf to your drab bag, make a step towards your “soul spring”. Your closet and your mood will thank you!
